In the Hill Country, water is everything. Whether you’re raising cattle, running a ranch, or just trying to manage your land well, a dependable pond or dam isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. We specialize in building and restoring ranch-grade ponds and dams that are designed to hold water, handle runoff, and last for decades. From new construction to dredging and dam repairs, we bring the equipment, experience, and respect for the land it takes to do the job right the first time.

New Pond & Dam Construction

We design and build ranch ponds and dams that match your land’s natural drainage, soil conditions, and purpose — whether that’s watering livestock, storing runoff, or creating new water features for your operation. From initial elevations to final touches, we handle every phase, making sure your pond works with the terrain and holds water where it should. No guesswork. Just good dirt work, done right.

Dam Repair & Reinforcement

Older dams often suffer from erosion, leaks, or structural failure. We repair and reinforce ranch dam systems using modern masonry techniques, updated spillway designs, and erosion control to restore function and prevent future damage. Whether your dam needs patching, rebuilding, or a complete redesign, we’ll bring it back stronger than before.

Pond Dredging & Capacity Restoration

Over time, sediment build-up shrinks your pond’s depth and reduce water capacity. Our dredging services remove silt, reshape the basin, and restore proper function—so your pond holds more water, stays cleaner, and supports better livestock and wildlife use. We also improve access for ongoing maintenance, grazing, or recreation.

Ranch Pond and Dam Services – FAQs

Good question — and a crucial one. If the pond’s too shallow or stagnant, most fish are already stressed or gone. But if there’s a healthy population, we can stage the dredging in phases, keeping part of the pond intact while working the other side. In some cases, we’ll temporarily relocate fish or pump water into a holding pond. Either way, we’ll work with you to preserve what’s alive — and rebuild the fishery better afterward.

Yes — but it takes the right equipment and planning. In certain situations we might use long-reach excavators from the bank or build coffer dams to isolate sections. For dam repairs, we’ll evaluate the existing spillway and flow control to work around active water. It’s not always dry work, but it doesn’t have to be a scorched-earth process either.

Leaking often comes from poor compaction during the original build, animal burrows, or root systems that rot and collapse. Fixing it depends on the severity: we might key in a new clay core, add a liner, or reinforce with concrete, bentonite or geo-textile fabric. The key is diagnosing the leak path — then targeting it surgically, not just piling dirt on the problem.

Yes — and that’s why we plan every build with drainage, spillways, and runoff in mind. A new pond can slow erosion, collect excess water, and even reduce flooding downstream. But if built wrong, it can starve pastureland or flood low spots. We grade with watershed flow, not against it — so the water works for you and your land.

Definitely — and it’s one of the best places to build. But damming natural runoff requires understanding flow rates, permitting (in some cases), and designing overflow systems that won’t blow out during flash floods. We specialize in turning seasonal runoff into year-round water storage without bottlenecking your whole watershed.

This is what makes water features amazing. Within weeks of finishing a well-built pond, the land around it comes alive. Frogs show up first, seemingly out of nowhere.  Then the dragonflies come, followed by tracks of deer, turkeys, raccoons, and other wildlife drawn in by the fresh water.

Birds you haven’t seen before will start to circle and nest nearby. Ducks might drop in during migration. Stock it right, and you’ll start seeing minnows schooling near the banks — then bass, catfish, bluegill, turtles, and the occasional heron. Native grasses sprout up on the banks, and wildflowers creep in where the soil was turned.

A functional pond is more than a property improvement — it helps recharge the aquifer, encourages vegetation, and support the wildlife that keeps Texas wild.
